Very portable and sturdy. A bit stout but unlike that about them

So this was my very first solar panel ever. I’m used to disaster preparedness due to living in Florida for 10 years so I have a generator in case of power outages. After enduring 2 hurricanes I realized that the next thing I needed was another way to charge my solar generators. So after Hurricane Helene I purchased this. At the same time I ordered a bigger solar generator that came with a 200w solar panel also.

What I can say positively is that this solar panel is more universal since it has MC3 connectors instead of any other connectors. So you can use adapters to easily connect this to any other solar generator. They are also lightweight which of course is a good thing when it comes to travel and/or camping.

Downside is that its not as powerful as other solar panels due to the volts. But I guess thats kinda the tradeoff for being universal and lightweight.

Would I buy this again? To power a smaller solar generator…yes. Anything 1000ah or bigger then I would get something more powerful.

I needed 200w panels and decided on these. Unfortunately, only “like new” returned panels were available in time for my needs last summer. I received the panels and they came in their original packaging and looked like new. I set them up and couldn’t get close to the panels reasonable peak power output of about 170 watts. Instead, I could only get about 130-140 watts peak power under the best conditions. I found leaving them flat on the ground usually netted about 120-135 watts which in windy conditions was the best way to use them. I also used them in the desert SW for 2 months with average temperatures of over 100 degrees each day and they worked at this level consistently. They are partial shade tolerant and produced very good power partly shaded. I bought a second new identical 200 watts panel set recently and it constantly produces 20% more power. At 4:30 – 4:45 pm 3/14/25, the new panel produces 155 watts vice 115-125 watts for the original returned panel set up identically to the new panel set. Why? I am not sure. Possibly there is a dead cell on the original returned panel dropping its peak output. So be careful buying a returned solar panel as Amazon doesn’t appear to check these out performance wise other than doing a visual inspection which these would easily pass.

I got this the previous day, and set it up with the MPPT charge controller in my RV, which has a 280AH LiFePO4 battery. I made sure that the AC charger was off, and fired up the 2KW inverter, and plugged in a 1500W space heater. At first, I was showing about 170 watts, but as the sun climbed higher in the sky (and I also was using the built-in panel stands) I eventually was showing 190 watts, which is more than I have ever had, even from a pair of HQST rigid-frame panels. The Renogy unit is a bit heavier than I expected, but very well made, has convenient carrying handles, MC-4 connectors, and a couple of USB sockets for device charging. This portable panel will actually replace the pair of HQST panels (which I still like very much) in my RV, as the Renogy product is much easier to store and move around. I will update this review after I have put some hours on the panels, but the initial impression is 5 stars!

Great solar panel seems to work well from a power point of view, slightly concerned about it being fabric for outside use, it could end up looking rough but hopefully not,
The legs at the back seem a bit flimsy but support better than I thought,
It folds up small which makes it easier to find a space for, not too heavy, and not too light so as it blows away
All I all I am very please with my purchase
    Thanks amazon and renogy

  7. Keith Smith

Fabulous for motorhome, we put outside to recharge our Ecoflow. Efficient and foldable for storage when travelling

  8. Batsaikhan Ariun-Erdene

    worked great for boondocking

  9. Bill in NC

The output straight out of the box was 179 watts, far exceeded expectations for March in NC. Kickstand seems flimsy and the joints between the four panels seem a bit light weight, but for the price this is unbeatable.

  10. Bill in NC

Pretty good value for the price. Well quality finish.
