UPDATE: The defective machine I received was shipped back to Amazon as a return and and was received on 10/20. It is now 11/13 and Amazon has yet to refund my money. I have reached out to Amazon customer support multiple times and to this point, they have been unwilling to help. In fact, the last person I worked with basically told me to wait till 11/24.
MY RECOMMENDATION: Proceed with caution. I had so much trust in Amazon to make things right before this. Not as much anymoreâŠ
I purchased this machine because I saw that it was on sale on Prime Day for $399. I figured it was a great deal so I read up on the âAmazon Renewedâ items and felt that if Amazon says they inspect and test these items that it would work so I went ahead.
Two days later my system arrived. I spent the time unpacking, hooking up and installing the system. After some time I was able to download and install a couple games and attempted to play. Each and every game crashed. Some times the game would crash and send me back to the Home Screen, some times it would crash the entire system completely. I tried resetting the system, looking for updates and all the other troubleshooting steps to get things working with no luck.
Ultimately, I gave up. I figured I had wasted enough of my time and contacted Amazon to return it. I will not be buying another unit from Amazon, new or âRenewedâ as all the time wasted on this experience has soured me on them. Iâll just bite the bullet and buy one local.
At the end of the day I would say to think long and hard on buying one of these renewed systems. I seriously doubt much quality control is being done as I was just shipped out a broken unit and wasted a ton of my time trying to get it to work.

It was about 14 hours of download time, because the disc of the call of duty game I bought would not load. However, once everything goes downloaded overnight, the game performed beautifully. Itâs a lot of fun.

This Xbox Series X Console was a renewed edition, you can’t even tell the difference. It looks brand new just like a new console and everything works great. It has 1TB storage and the games all downloaded pretty quick. My son was very happy and excited to receive this this Xbox series X console, it was a surprise for him and an early Christmas Gift from Me. It was shipped in 2 business days and arrived at my doorstep 2 days after it was ordered. Now that is what you call fast shipping. It was a good investment for my son and he loved it! I bought this ârefurbishedâ console in July, and it stopped turning on in November. This was sold as an âAmazon Refurbishedâ console. The customer support at Amazon told me they wouldnât replace it, and they wouldnât take a return on it. The âwarranty is for 90 days,â and the console turned into a brick at 120 days, so thereâs nothing that Amazon will do to stand behind their product. They told me to contact Microsoft for help. The warranty that Microsoft gives is from the original purchase date of the console. In my case the âMicrosoft warrantyâ ended on Nov. 21st, and the console quit working on Nov. 25th. So lucky me the only thing I can do is pay Microsoft an additional $300 to get this console replaced. So because Iâm one month outside of 90 days and 4 days past a warranty that started before I even owned the console I now own a $450 paper weight. And if I want the company to fix or replace it I get to own what will be a $750 console. All because I trusted Amazon to sell a working ârefurbishedâ console.

Got to be honest, I thought for a moment I was getting a brand new never before used console. Packaging was great, all smelled new and it was neat and flawless. The only way to know you have a Refurbished/Renewed console is by reading about it on the box on a corner with not so big letters that says “Refurbished”
Device is accompanied by a new controller and both HDMI and Power Cord (which all seemed new).
At my house my kids and I have been using it for an average of 6 hours daily and so far it is working great. I am now considering getting a fan to maintain device temperature even lower (and extend life).
Just in case, get the assurion extended warranty, as I did. You never know how will time affect the refurbished unit and, at around $49 for 3 years of worry free use? No brainer.
(PS. it just has 90day warranty out of the box. Prime Day deal had this unit at 369+tax. There are some other Used “Like New” Xbox’s from Amazon that brings a whole year warranty.)

Shipment was delayed supposed to come in on sunday came on Thursday. Did come in thought UPS not amazon. At first of putting in power cord and HDMI cord ( HDMI cord did work) it would not turn on, but after inserting and plugging the power cord of the xbox off and on several times it did eventually work and then turned on. When it turned on it did restart itself twice but after worked completely normal. After all that no issues came from the xbox. Games like college football and Jedi Survivor has worked smoothly and download speed runs fast. Actually would recommend especially during prime day. A Xbox S 1TB was 350 no shipping while this on prime day in 2024 was 400 with shipping so definitely worth but can be risky with all the other reviews in place. Risk it though because this is way more worth it.
