Gym Guy –
I have had my S22I for about 6 months now. Nordic Track just released music stations that you can now listen to while you work out. This was a huge complaint when I bought my machine early last year. The music that would stream was allot of Lady Gaga. Truth be know, the only time I listen to the music is when I warm up before my instructor work out. During the ride, you can listen to the trainer, the music, or both. So warming to some classic rock is a very nice feature. Nordic Track listens to their customers and that makes it worthwhile besides the awesome workouts.
There are so many workouts you can do with this machine but the ones I prefer are trainers on mountain bike and road bike rides. I’ve “ridden” in some pretty cool places this year on the S22I. The Colorado mountain bike series featuring the towns of Telluride and Leadville was very cool.
There is too much to say about the qualities of this machine. It does what I bought it for. It provides me, of my own choosing, a 30-45 minute ride where I can burn 300+ calories. The trainers like Yuri Hauswald are awesome. I like his training series as I can transfer what learn on my S22I to my actual road bike. It has made me a better and stronger rider.
Pros & Cons of the S22I. The bike is a beast! It does weigh allot so keep that in mind. All that weight does make for an incredibly stable ride. I weigh 185lbs and the bike does not move even when standing up. I did have one failure so far and that was after the set up, the bike would not incline or decline. I called customer service, spoke with a nice young person and a new circuit board was sent to me along with a YouTube video on how to do the repair myself. It’s been great ever since.
Connecting Bluetooth technology like earbuds and heartrate monitors is tricky at first as there are no clear instructions on how to do it but once you connect, its very easy the next time. I use earbuds and a Nordic Track heart rate arm band. It’s very cool to see my HR displayed on the screen as I ride.
I compared the S22I and the Peloton. I went with the S22I as its more affordable and does way more than the Peloton.

First off, when I was able to actually RIDE this bike, the experience was great. The trainers made it interesting, the scenery was great, and the workouts challenging. But that’s where the positives end.
Here are the problems that caused me to return this bike:
* Membership: Neither NordicTrack nor iFit make it easy to understand for someone new to indoor cycling/spinning that in order to use iFit on this bike, you MUST buy the $39/month iFit Pro membership. There is a deceptively reasonable iFit Train membership for $15/month that works with some equipment, but not machines with built-in screens. Such a subtle difference that most people won’t realize this means you’re out of luck with this machine.
* Display: This display, although large, is PAINFULLY slow. Every tap takes forever to respond and load. While using the built-in workouts (very few, by the way), it would take several minutes just to navigate to one of the free workouts and start riding.
* Connectivity problems: Every single day, after going through the frustrating process to actually start one of the workouts, when I hit “Start”, I would be presented with an error that it couldn’t connect to the actual equipment and told me to power-cycle the machine. I would do this, wait many minutes for it to power up again, then start the whole workout selection process again before I could actually ride it.
I REALLY wanted to like this bike. But I paid a lot of money to get features that I now have to pay an additional $400/year to use, and even then, it’s painful every time I get on it and want to start a workout. For much less money, I can toss my own ipad on a cheaper machine and get everything except the incline/decline feature, and pay 1/3 per month. What a rip off.

I did a lot of research and chose the Nordic Trac as I wanted the realistic experience of doing a road bike ride. I decided to order thru Amazon given the friendly return policy (vs. directly from Nordic Trac where you have to pay $$). I opted for the $20 delivery indoors to the room, which was worth it as its quite heavy/bulky.
The setup is straight forward- there is a video on the NT website to follow. All of the screw holes line up, but I did have a problem getting 1 screw to seat correctly to screw in- took me about an hour to resolve this. But other than that assembly was pretty straightforward.
The bike is as advertised. Takes a little bit to find the right seat/handlebar adjustments but once you do its great. I opted for the 15 inch screen which is plenty large for my needs. The automatic resistance/incline changes has worked great. The fan is also quite useful- I have the bike in my basement right next to a window I can open, however once I get going I turn the fan on low and it helps. The bike does not have a power switch, so I ordered a surge protector outlet where I can just press a button to turn the machine on. My only complaint – on the roads when you are going downhill you coast to catch your breath – on this bike you have to keep pedaling albeit its much easier when going downhill.
As for iFIT, its pretty good. I do a combination of instructor led road bike rides, along with google map rides that either they have created or I create myself. The instructor rides are true videos with narration, where they will tell you the target cadence you should be shooting for. This is quite helpful when they are doing intervals in the workout. I like the length of the workouts also – most are around 30-40 minutes, with some being longer. If I have an hour planned i’ll do 1 instructor ride followed by 1 google maps ride.
The google maps rides adjust incline according to the terrain, however its not always lined up perfectly with the image. Every 3 seconds or so you get a new image- a lot of them were taken pointing backwards from a car which is a little annoying as you are on the other side of the road. In addition occasionally you will get a random picture of something crazy inserted in for 1 of the shots. They do have interesting rides- i’m just finishing a 10 ride set of colleges in the US which is interesting.
They also have mountain bike instructor rides (which I’ve done and like for variety), and separately have spin classes which I have not tried yet. Overall though I give iFIT a thumbs up. You can map out your schedule ahead of time on the computer (choosing the rides you want to do), and once you finish the ride it moves it into the ‘complete’ zone and records your stats.
Overall i’m quite pleased with this purchase – its not cheap but I’ve used it more than I expected in my first month. Note I did also purchase the Amazon warranty for 3 years – I figure that for something with so many moving parts/electronics it would be worth doing this. This also comes with annual maintenance. The way I look at it i’m not going to the gym anymore as i’ll just do this, so after 2 years it will pay for itself.
The only thing I dread is one day moving this thing out of the house- it is quite heavy! But overall I highly recommend this!

Picked up on warehouse deals – acceptable rating. Missing a bit of hardware (screws) and weights (not relevant for me) and one bit of plastic trim broken (not an issue) but otherwise mint. Purchased for less than a 3rd of the price or just a 3rd of the price after taxes. A steal.
Bearing that in mind, do I think this is worth a 3rd of the price or the full price. Yes in both cases. I have a sister company spin bike I picked up which has similar elevation functionality for a similar price and will retain both.
The ifit is worthwhile, fully immersive and a lot of fun to distract you from thinking you are home. I’m not a studio cycle guy but prefer the outside rides. The picture quality is amazing and the fully interactive aspects of the rides are a lot of fun.
Overall, a great warehouse deal and a great bike even at full price.

Great bike with lots of features. I recommend it.

Just got it from amazon the price was good around $1636 with Tax and Delivery So far it is good very solid made and after five rides not any problems would definitely recommend it you can get it for a good price. Should make winter riding a lot more fun

Excelente. más que una bici fija, es un simulador.
Carl Campion –
Solid product. Very heavy construction. Nicely designed. Appreciate the incline/decline feature-very leading edge. However the quality control is not optimal for such an expensive product, and assembly is a bit niggly. My pedal came off despite reefing on it with all my strength during assembly. The seat post slides down when you sit on it because the knob assembly is off-centre and needs replacement out of the box. Not impressive. Would be a great product if they could address the quality control. Still waiting to see if customer service is attentive as there are a number of reviews saying it is very poor as well….
