Lodge 6 Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Lid

Your Go-To Dutch Oven: Experience the perfect blend of style and functionality with the Lodge Dutch Oven. This enameled cast iron classic not only enhances your kitchen decor but is also ideal for cooking and serving unforgettable meals. Whether you’re broiling, braising, baking, or roasting, this oven can handle temperatures up to 500°F.

What is Porcelain Enamel on Cast Iron? Porcelain enamel is a glass coating that is fused to cast iron at high temperatures. This process involves applying a glass particulate, known as frit, to the cast iron vessel and baking it at temperatures between 1200°F and 1400°F. The frit melts and forms a robust bond with the cast iron. The result is a heat-resistant and water-impervious surface, perfect for various culinary applications.

Easy to Cook and Clean: The smooth finish of the porcelain enameled interior minimizes sticking, encourages caramelization, and resists staining. While the Dutch oven is dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm, soapy water and a nylon scrub brush is recommended to maintain its pristine condition.

Heat Retention: The cast iron construction ensures exceptional heat distribution and retention, providing even heating throughout the bottom and sidewalls. The tightly fitting lid traps moisture, making it perfect for pot roasts, stews, or large batches of beans. This superior heat retention also helps reduce energy consumption during cooking.

Family Owned Since 1896: Lodge has been a trusted, family-owned brand since 1896. This enameled Dutch oven is crafted from non-toxic materials that are PFOA and PTFE-free, reflecting Lodge’s dedication to quality and environmental responsibility.

    Well made.

  2. Bug.

The 6 quart is exactly what I was looking for.

  3. Diane S

Wonderful pot for stews, sauces, soups and anything you can think of to cook in it. Pan and lid are solid and heavy which makes for more even cooking and heating. My husband loves this Dutch oven. Because the lid is heavy you need to be careful placing on pot.

This is an easy product to like.! I have been a user and a fan of cast iron cookware for a long time. We used it 50 – 60 years ago while I was growing up and I continue to use it today. There are several good manufacturers of cast iron cookware on the market today. And there are even more if you consider the ones from the not-so-distant past.! But most of them were of the standard “black” or “grey” iron construction. It is only in the more recent past (say maybe the last ten or fifteen years..) that enameled porcelain has been used as a surface treatment for cast iron cookware. The advantages are many, but for me ease of maintenance and the ability to cook acid ingredients without damaging the pot or causing off-tastes in the food are what make me give these “new-fangled” cast iron pots a try.

Lodge is one of the names that almost everyone has heard of (in the cast iron cookware business..). I am very happy to see that they have now decided to join the growing trend toward coated cast iron. The Lodge name on this pot was enough to make my decision for me. I have wondered about these pots for several years….. now I know the answer.

I guess it doesn’t matter too much which brand you choose, these coated pots are FAR better than the older style CI pots for cooking stews or soups or anything that contains tomatoes or other acid ingredients. For these tasks, these coated pots are perfect. I decided to make the purchase when I discovered that Lodge had seemingly broken through the price barrier and their pots were available at a much better price point than other brands (which I won’t mention here..). I was pleased to see this addition to the Lodge line and jumped at the possibility to own one of these pots without raiding my 401K or seeing a banker for a loan.!!

If you base your buying decision on performance alone, you will have a difficult decision. There are several brands available… all of which are top quality products. It is when you factor in VALUE that the Lodge line seems to rise to the top. This is a top quality product, beautifully made and finished, that cooks like pots that cost double or triple the amount. I made my decision based on value. I bought this pot because I wanted one… and I could justify the expense of THIS one. It does the job perfectly. It cooks just like you would expect a Lodge pot to cook. And it looks beautiful as well. The bottom line was price. Since I chose this Lodge pot, I can now afford to buy a second one of a different size.!! Yay.!!

Give one of these a try. Top quality + Decent price = VALUE. Highly recommended. You cannot go wrong with this.

It’s heavy, but I expected that. It’s gorgeous and I’ve cooked several things in it. I really like it. I appreciate that it has no toxic chemicals used in the manufacturing. That was important to me.

Hands down, Lodge is the finest in Dutch Oven cookware. I made Cheeseburger Soup in one pot! Start to finish. It cooked evenly, completely, and looked so nice on my stovetop. I purchased it in STORM BLUE for contrast to my very white kitchen. But really, you can’t go wrong with Lodge. Cleanup was a breeze because nothing burned or got stuck to the bottom. I did a little babysitting the stove, but this was my maiden, breaking it in adventure! Oh there was some ground beef residue on the bottom while browning it, but with hot soapy water and a soft scrubby, it melted away with no soaking, hard scrubbing, or cursing. Be prepared though as the cookware is quite heavy. But that’s the Lodge quality shining through. The inside bottom is slightly curved which helps with cooking a variety of dishes like my soup. I’m thrilled with my first Dutch Oven purchase. If you enjoy cooking and desire stovetop or oven cooking options from a single pot, get a Dutch Oven!

This is a great dutch oven, solid and roomy, heavy which shows that it holds a lot of heat. I love the colors!

  8. Common Sense

This pan is a positive visitor to my kitchen stove. In reality, nothing beats a LeCruesset product but realistically they are beyond most budgets. However, the Lodge brand is an affordable workhorse that does the job consistently well, holds the heat, and is easy to clean. I particularly like this model because it has a flat bottom but rounded sides that make it more effective when stirring ingredients to prevent scorching.
I may buy another one in a different size for smaller recipes.

  9. Christina

I bought this as an affordable dutch oven for my sourdough baking project. Not knowing if I’d stick with it, I wanted a more budget version of my higher end French dutch oven. Looks wise, I love the vintage look of this and the antiqued color. Since dutch ovens get kinda beat up and water stained in the high heat oven, I kinda like the patina look. It’s a perfect size for baking dutch oven but could also be used for soups, sauces, whatever. It stands up the heat and baking weekly with no issues. It is heavy as expected with cast iron, so no complaints there. Very easy to clean and no chips or scratches. Love.

Considered a lower priced, imported enameled cast iron but concerns about the coating drew me to the Made in the USA Lodge brand. Still reasonably priced and worth just a few more $ for peace of mind. Perfect for Soup Sunday! Stunning color and top quality.
