Keith LeDuc –
Ok. I have read many reviews about this tablet. For the amount of money I paid I think it’s great. Sure it’s not one of your high end Samsung tablets or IPad or something like that. But I wanted a 10 inch tablet because I sold my other one which was a Nexus 10, which I felt I didn’t really want to sell it but I needed some Christmas money but, it turns out, my job gave us a Christmas bonus this year so I decided to buy a comparable unit such as the Lenovo as a replacement 10 inch tablet. I am very pleased with the tablet for only owning it a week now. I’m not finding the sound bar to be as great as some of you have mentioned because for one, the speakers are in the back side of the unit and all the sound, unless laying the tablet flat, fires out the back also unless you cup your hands over the corners. I also have the Nexus 9 tablet which is a very fast tablet and it has front facing stereo speakers that sound very full n rich and no Dolby Atmos software or sound enhancements are needed to make it sound good! I recently bought a Bluetooth speaker to pair up with the unit and I ended up using it over night to play some sleep type music. Both the tablet and the speaker performed well and played the entire night through. So for now, as far as the sound goes and the fact that the tablet has NO pulse notification light are the two basic reasons I gave it a four star rating. I would’ve purchased the Google Pixel 10 inch but I didn’t want to spend the $400 to own it. I am truly impressed by the fact that my particular unit has absolutely no light bleed on the screen that I can detect which upon start up both the Nexus 9 and 10 do have, even when the brightness is turned down. Which brings up another point, while this tablet does have a very bright and clear screen, there is no auto brightness settings that I can detect. But it does host some display settings that allow the user to manually adjust screen setting such as brightness, color, hue…etc. People always want to complain about battery life. Well, I feel so far, this tablet isn’t greater than any other out there on the market as far as battery life goes but it holds it’s own and found that on a full charge of 100% this unit lasts several hours even after watching about 4 hour long episodes on netflix. And at that it still had about 45% left which lasted the rest of my 8 hour sleep to the sleepy music with the new Bluetooth speaker. I used the Google play music app to play the music with the screen shut off of course. During the course of typing this review, I’ve noticed the battery level has dropped about 10% in about the last 30 minutes of use which to me isn’t bad since I probably won’t be using it much the rest of the day. And I don’t know about the person that mentioned that the tablet drains battery even on standby over night. Other than my sleepy music last night, I have let the tablet sit just in stand by so far a few nights to which it maybe lost about 5% for sitting for 8 hours at least. Most of any tablets or cell phones I have owned do that. I truly think most of you people expect your battery power to last forever on these devices. I don’t know where you get your ideas from. Have you ever noticed how along a store bought 1.5 volt AA battery lasts in any electronic unit that is used most of the day by a child’s toy or a grown ups toy? Not very long! I also want to mention that in reading the QA’s, alot of people asked or made comments to the problems with upgrading to Android 5.0 or 5.01. Most of the answer people posted that the unit will automatically upgrade to 5.0 during setup or you can use the system upgrade setting and follow the steps to upgrade to Android 5.0. Well my system within this entire week of ownership has NEVER offered to upgrade to 5.0. It offered one upgrade and that was to Android 4.4.4. Everything I check the system update app, it reports that I am using the most current version and does NOT offer any further upgrade. Maybe they have received all the issues with the 5.0 upgrade and they are not allowing it until they get all or most of the reported bugs worked out. So far that’s OK with me because I am happy with the way the tablet operates for now. I don’t like the way it makes me remember about this version of Android where then you touch the open programs button and it lists them all in a row across the screen and you have to swipe each one up or down to close it and remove it from memory. In 5.0 or 5.1 depending on which model of phone you have, it lists the running programs vertically laid out on top of each other with a small “X” in the upper right hand corner to close each program. Some tablets or phone offer a “close all” feature which is very convenient than having to click and close each one seperately.
So to sum up, my only gripes for me would be the sound bar and no notification LED and also no upgrade to 5.0 offered as of yet. I guess after reading the other horrible reviews, I’m glad there isn’t one. I hope when I do get the option to upgrade, alot of the bugs that most of you seem to complain about have been fixed! Other than those few things, I feel it operates and handles all my apps just as well as any other tablet that I’ve owned and others on the market costing a LOT more. The one true test I always use on all the phones or tablets I have owned is playing the Tetris Blitz game. It is such an active graphic hog that it actually gets really sounding funny and slow on another 8 inch tablet I own but it plays just great on this one. To the person that mentioned to watch out for the “King” games such as Candy Crush or Candy Crush Soda sogas, hey, they play just fine on mine so I don’t know what issues you had other than maybe a slower internet connection. I have had not problems with apps freezing or not working so far. I think it’s really a good tablet and I would refer it to others!

This is a great tablet. Wonderful, clearly defined pictures, very easy to use and gives me everything that I need. Nice size screen and the battery lasts much longer than other tablets that I have used before needing to be charged. I am extremely impressed, especially with the high quality for such a reasonable price.

Arrived sooner than expected, way sooner. Woke up early morning and found the box on my porch. All is fine though, contents were secure and in good condition. The tablet itself looks nice, fairly thin and light. On initial start up, it took awhile to connect to my wi-fi and sign onto google. After the OS update to lollipop and setup was complete, performance and functions were smooth. Didn’t noticed any lag or slow down. Screen is bright and clear, graphics are very sharp displaying full HD. Audio from the speakers is… adequate. The Dolby app is a good feature. So for the price, overall I’m very happy with this tablet.

I will simply confirm the many other positive comments by others… If you are looking for a 10″ tablet for general purpose / media player use at a good price, this should be at the top of your list. Specs are one thing, but real life performance is what actually matters and this tablet has that in spades. I am easily frustrated by lag on tablets and “buttery” performance is one of my primary requirements (I simply cannot stand jittery web page scrolling or momentary lockups when apps are downloading and upgrading). The Tab 2 A10 is well built, performs flawlessly – NO LAG – beautiful high resolution screen, good sound and *excellent* battery life. The Dolby Atmos surround sound feature is a but overhyped, but it does actually make a difference that I appreciate and I am glad it is included. On top of all that you have the Lenovo brand behind it, makers of some of the best laptop pc’s available, with USA based support.
Really I am writing this review to pass on one important piece of feedback – the Tab 2 A10 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, but Lenovo has already released a system update to Android 5.01 Lollipop, and the tablet will notify you to apply the update shortly after connecting to WiFi,,, However, it appears that as of today (8/21/15) there may be some unresolved issues with the Lollipop firmware and several users are complaining of sound and network issues after updating their tablets. While it is admirable that Lenovo is offering the update to the most current version of Android (many other tablet brands never bother updating their products – cough Asus!), I suggest you wait until the issues are resolved before updating your tablet, because it is impossible to return to the original firmware once that has been done. Lenovo appears to be working on the issues and I fully expect they will ultimately be fixed, but as for myself the tablet works so well as-is and there’s really no immediate need to update so I am happy to use KitKat until that time.
The tablet does not include an HDMI port, but does provide screen casting for watching on television if desired.
The tablet DOES have GPS capability despite the specs not being very clear of that (and the setup menu does not specify until you enter the detailed options, so it appears not to have GPS on the surface). There is no GPS app bundled with the tablet, but they are available at no cost in the Google Play store. However, Google Maps is included and recognizes the GPS receiver.
For those who might be a bit spec snobby, while the cpu manufacturer, MediaTek, may not have much historical provenance, the MT8165 cpu is based on the A53 core and Mali T760 gpu, both of which are well rated cores and it appears MediaTek is becoming a worthy competitor. Based on the performance of this tablet, I certainly won’t discount them in the future based on name recognition alone.
In summary, this is an excellent 10″ tablet at any price. The fact that it’s less than $200 is just a huge bonus. I was actually shopping for a good used tablet thinking that the performance I desired would be out of my budget, but the Tab 2 A10 proves you can get the performance at an affordable price.

I love the Lenovo A-10. The speed, graphics everything about it! Well worth the money I paid. Great deal. This is the first Lenovo I’ve owned and I’m pleased!
