It’s a disc drive and it works really well. Much better 4K Blu-Ray player than the Xbox Series X. No noise noticed.

I bought this for my new PS5 Pro that doesn’t come with a disc drive (PS5 Pro is a digital only console). The installation was super quick, pretty much plug and play if you follow the instructions. Everything worked immediately. In testing on my PS5 Pro, its compatible with PS5 & PS4 games that PS5 Pro supports, as well as Blu-ray DVDs. Do you need this disc drive? Up to you. Sony is going into a more digital download direction but I celebrate physical game discs and want to use my PS5 Pro as a Blu-ray player in tandem. So it fits my needs and is working to my expectations.

Very easy to install make sure you are connected to the internet so it can register the blu ray to your console.
