Amazon Customer –
I have a serious skin condition, developed after Covid, one which can cause bleeding, blistering, skin inflammation, and sometimes sepsis. I purchased the Braun Series 9 Pro on Amazon one year ago for $400 Canadian. It is the best purchase I have ever made for a razor, and I regret not having bought it sooner. The Braun Series 9 Pro I am now using provides a close shave on my face and neck, with no irritation at all, and unusually, in my experience, even the trimmer works well.
Is it worth the price? Compared to what?
I had for many years used another well-known brand of shaver, produced in the U.S., but found I had to replace the shaver head several times a year because of irritation even before I developed this skin condition. I reviewed my purchases on Amazon in a 16- month period between January 2023 and May 2024, and found that I had spent not just $320 for 9 replacement blades for that razor in that period, and another $50 for a complete replacement of the razor, but also I had earlier spent an additional $45 for a trimmer because the original trimmer on the razor was useless.
So, the bottom line is that in a little over a year, I spent on a cheap unreliable razor, as much as I would have had I originally bought the Braun. I also use the cleaning solution once a week, and this seems to keep the blades functioning smoothly.
This is one of the few products I could recommend unreservedly to a friend if he wanted a close shave that doesn’t irritate. Good work Braun. It is good to see a product that matches the claims made for it.

Due to sensitive skin, I haven’t used a disposable razor for decades. For most of that time, any inexpensive electric razor worked adequately, but as my beard turned grey I had more and more issues shaving these thicker bristly white hairs. Over the last decade or so I’ve pretty much given up on shaving at all (except for using hair clippers to keep it short) despite buying multiple razors and hoping for a good shave. For the longest time, I used a Panasonic ES8103 that left me with a shave that wasn’t so good even after passing over the same area 10-20 times. I then tried a Norelco OneBlade which actually worked ok but was comparatively messy and the blades only worked well for a short time and then required more passes to get a progressively poorer shave. And finally, the biggest waste of money was the Norelco Series 5000 which refused to shave my beard from day one. Even after a continuous 15 minutes of running it over my face still felt rough and numerous stubborn hairs remained here and there. On top of that, it was very difficult to reassemble after taking it apart to clean.
I finally decided to buy the best-rated razor on the market which was the Braun Series 9. I did not have any great expectations but was pleasantly surprised. Even with fairly long stubble as my clippers don’t cut very close the razer gave me a close shave after just one or two passes over any one area. The final result left my face smooth to the touch; a much closer shave than I’ve ever gotten from an electric razor. This razor is absurdly expensive, but if you can’t get a good shave from a cheaper model certainly give it a try. As far as the cleaner that comes with this model, it does appear to work as intended, although I will have to use it longer before I can decide if it is just a gimmick or not. If you travel a lot the case that contains an external battery should be great but I probably will use it only rarely.
My only complaint is that the instructions are completely useless. There are pages of pictograms that I couldn’t make any sense of. I had to go only to find a review that covered the same information using words.
Edit added after 2 months of use: I don’t really have much to say about the performance of the razor as it continues to shave remarkably well. My only developing concerns are in regard to cleaning. The head contains some intricate parts many of which cannot be reached with the small brush provided and I don’t think it was designed to be disassembled. This makes getting the version with the cleaning station almost obligatory. While it works pretty well this bulky device isn’t perfect. Not only is some manual cleaning required it becomes necessary to clean the cleaning device as well. So far everything remains clean enough using the cleaner with some manual cleaning but if you have OCD it will probably drive you nuts that it is difficult if not impossible to get everything inside the razor perfectly clean.

I did a lot of research and read most of the reviews on Amazon. I am very happy with this shaver.
Nearly 30 years ago, I owned a foil electric razor. It was junk and I’ve been shaving with a Gillette Mach III since that time, which is still a pretty good razor for that type of shaving. But the pricing is absurd.
The Pros: no nicks or cuts. I love the convenience of being able to shave in bed while reading on my Kindle, or on a long drive. It’s a close shave but not quite a razor shave. Because you’re not shaving below the skin, it leaves a subtle, but masculine 5 o’clock shadow. The charge lasted me for 2 1/2 weeks while I was in Europe, shaving about every three days.
Cons: I have trouble getting close enough on my upper lip. It’s not terrible, but I have to make several passes and angle the razor from the bottom.
Bottom line:
I love this product. I was sick of forking my money over to Gillette for a blade that barely lasted two shaves. The convenience is unbelievable. The shave is close, but not too close. Highly recommended.
FYI, I came back a couple months later and ordered the cleaning station. It’s worth it.

So far so good. Previously owned a top of the line Philips rotary blade shaver which stopped charging. It lasted around 4 or so years.
I was initially going to buy another Philips unit but decided to do some research and see what other options were out there.
After a couple of months of research I narrowed it down to the Braun Series 9 Pro 9477cc, the Panasonic Arc5 or Arc6 and the Philips S9000 Prestige.
The travel charging case is what sold me on the Braun. I’ve used it three times since I bought it. Twice on my face and once on my head. Very happy with the closeness of the shave and how quickly it got the job done.
Each shave was with 2 days stubble which is quite coarse.
I was concerned with the switch to foils whether this would cause me any discomfort. I’m pleased to say this is mot the case. It’s a very comfortable shave albeit much noisier than my previous shaver.
The instructions are just illustrations. If I’m paying for your best product I expect much better. This would probably be my only gripe so far though.

If you’re someone who rocks a bald head and is tired of dealing with the hassle of a traditional razor, I highly recommend this Braun Razor. Having tried various products on the market, I can confidently say that this razor is a game-changer. Here’s why:
1. Comfortable Shaving Experience: The Braun Series 9 Pro is designed with the utmost comfort in mind. The multiple cutting elements on the shaving head glide smoothly over the scalp, without causing any irritation or discomfort. Even with sensitive skin, I’ve never experienced any redness or razor burn after using this razor.
2. Efficient and Fast: This razor offers an incredibly close shave in a fraction of the time it takes with traditional razors. With its powerful motor and sharp blades, it effortlessly removes every hair on my head, leaving a smooth and impeccable finish. The precision trimmer attachment is also a great addition for shaping sideburns or detailing around the ears.
3. Wet & Dry Versatility: The Braun Series 9 Pro is 100% waterproof, allowing for both wet and dry shaves. This feature is particularly convenient when I’m in a hurry or prefer a quick dry shave. However, for a more luxurious experience, using shaving cream or gel with this razor works wonders, resulting in an even closer and smoother shave.
4. Long Battery Life: One of the highlights of this razor is its remarkable battery life. A full charge gives me weeks of shaving without having to worry about recharging. Even when the battery eventually starts to run low, a quick 5-minute charge provides enough power for one full shave, ensuring I’m never caught off guard.
5. Easy to Clean: The base station does a fantastic job of cleaning, drying, and charging all in one!
6. Durable Build: The Braun Razor feels solid in hand, and its build quality instills confidence in its longevity. Despite regular use, the razor has shown no sign of wearing down, and the blades have remained sharp. This is undoubtedly a long-term investment that will save you money on replacement parts in the long run.
In conclusion, the Series 9 Pro is a top-notch grooming tool for bald heads and faces. Its performance, comfort, and versatility are unmatched. From its comfortable shave to its durable build and long-lasting battery, it’s undoubtedly a fantastic investment. If you’re looking for a razor that provides a flawlessly smooth shave every time, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

To provide some context to this review: I generally prefer shaving with a safety razor and use an electric shaver on those days when I’m in a rush. I tend to buy higher-end electric shavers as they seem to last the longest and provide the best performance.
I’m going to say at the outset that this is the best electric shaver I’ve ever owned. I like to spend more money on electric shavers when I buy them as I find they can last seven to ten years and perform better than lower end models. The first time I used this shaver I was sold. While it doesn’t shave as closely as a razor, it’s not exactly far behind in terms of closeness. I’m also using this on a near daily basis, something I never did prior to this.
I do have one quibble with it though — my previous Braun shaver had this cooling strip which made shaving with it a little more pleasant. The Series 9 Pro 9419s doesn’t have it in favour of a protective skin guard. I’m not sure that the trade-off was worth it, but the good thing is that this shaver does its job so quickly that’s not a big deal.
The heaviest beard I did shave it with was a three-day, but I do have steel brush beard hair, and it cut it off without any issue, something that my older Braun would have had difficulty with and taken much longer.
This is going to sound like hyperbole, and perhaps it is, but if I had to buy one of these shavers once a year in order to keep using it, I would. I like it that much.
