10 reviews for OTTOCAST Mini Dongle 2 in1 Wireless Carplay Adapter for Apple iPhone with GPS Passthrough, Android Auto Car Adapter, Plug & Play, Convert Wired to…

  1. Mark

This was the second brand I tried. I replaced the radio with a kenwood years ago and the extension never worked right with my phone music worked but calls not so much. Lately my iPhone refuses to connect to anything through a cord, irritating but that’s another story. The first brand I tried did not work at all, so I thought I would try this one. I plugged it in, my phone saw it and connected no problem. I have had it for a bit and whenever I get in my car it just connects like my 23 Durango and works flawlessly!

  2. apple_or_bananas

As another reviewer said, the dongle attempts to connect to the phone even when the car is off. Pretty frustrating. Otherwise, it works ok.

  3. Nadeem Showkat

    works perfect

  4. BonanzaNC

Works perfectly in a 2020 Subaru Ascent. This is the 3rd adapter I’ve tried and the only one that worked. Easy setup in less than 2 minutes. Reconnects in about 30 seconds even with phone in pocket. Note using iPhone and Apple Maps you can program destination from the car’s screen. It works fine with Waze and Google maps but you have enter destination on the phone.

  5. Amazon Customer

It work very good. Easy to install and work like a charm.

  6. Karl F.

Got it working about 10 minutes after opening the box. Really easy to set up and no more annoying cables! It’s compatible with IPhone and is worth giving up the usb slot for it. Love the small size and the design is discreet.

  7. Omar Shubeilat

As advertised! Works like a charm and saved me from the hassle of not being able to connect my Android Auto to my Camry 25!

Highly recommend. Just be aware that if you are order from Saudi then you will most definitely struggle with the delivery because they are just horrible! Amazon SA is not delivering this product directly so be careful and be sure that next day delivery is almost certainly not going to take place.

  8. rb6banjo

Super easy to install. Works pretty well. It seems that i must unplug it each time i get out of the car. If it reboots from scratch, it works more reliably. Loses track of the audio stream sometimes but i can’t tell if it’s the ottocast or my phone. We’ll see as tome goes on…..

  9. Nobody

Overall, this little device worked well in my car. There’s hardly any setup, and the connectivity is great. You can just leave your phone in your pocket and it will connect quickly once you start your car. The size was also fine, it didn’t obstruct any other ports or stick out too far. It was actually smaller than I thought it would be.
The one big negative with this is that the sound quality, at least in my car, is much worse than with the USB cable. It’s about the difference between listening to an FM radio station vs a CD. It’s not horrifyingly bad, it’s sort of okay, but when you plug the cable back in you’ll go ‘wow’, the cable is that much better. Of course, this also depends a lot on rest of the audio system in your car (speakers, amp, etc), so in some cars the difference may be less noticeable.
So it’s mainly a convenience thing. I like to use it when I’m running errands around town where I’m in and out of the car. But if I’m driving 30 mins or more, I just use the cable. I wouldn’t describe it as a good value… the price is a bit high for what you get, but it depends on how much you value the convenience factor.
