This adapter is exactly what I needed to get wireless Apple CarPlay without rewiring my car. Setup was plug-and-play—just plug into USB and clip it to the vent. It connects quickly every time and stays stable during drives.

The small screen shows time or album art, which is a nice touch but not a dealbreaker. Sound quality and call clarity are noticeably improved with HD Voice support. The built-in scent diffuser is unexpected but adds a subtle fresh smell to the car.

It’s not perfect—sometimes the connection takes a few seconds longer to wake up, and the clip could be a bit sturdier. But overall, it’s a solid, easy way to modernize your infotainment system without hassle.

I wasn’t sure I’d like having a constant-use device in the car that used a cable – potentially always in the way. However, I tried not one, but two other CarPlay devices that were just dongles, and neither one worked well. I decided to google “best” devices, and this brand turned up more than once. I think they were right.

It was very quick and easy to set up. This one reconnects each time I start my car, and it does so fairly quickly – a matter of a few seconds. However, part of the time it’s just an audio connection, not video. That seems to be an issue with my car, though, as it does that even with a direct cable. Fortunately, with this one, my car’s native display offers me an option for connecting to CarPlay – I just have to touch that icon, and I get the video display every time. Not really a huge deal. The other Bluetooth ones I tried required me to wade through menus, or just unplug it and plugged it back in.

There is latency, but that seems to be unavoidable with Bluetooth. It’s slightly less than the others, though – maybe 2 seconds’ lag?

Frankly, I like that the Bluetooth connection piece has a little display – I really like the analog clock. If you don’t like any of the options, though, you can turn it off. Pressing the side button cycles it from clock, to album display, to a picture (my picture shows the one it comes with), to a blank screen/display off, to just a generic “connected” display. It doesn’t display covers for audiobooks, but I don’t see why I’d need that (or the album cover display, for that matter), since I have it up on the main display.

The four mountable cable clips they provide seem great, but frankly, I prefer to just bind up the excess cable with the little velcro strap it comes with.

Not sure what the ‘aromatherapy’ thing is about. Really, I didn’t see anything about it when I put it together, and I don’t smell anything now. I’m not sure how you’d order replacement scent circles, either. But that’s not why I wanted this, so I don’t really care.

In short, I love this adapter. It works well with my 2019 Honda Accord.

Neat little accessory. Love the screen. My iPhone mostly connects perfectly, with the occasional disconnection for no reason I can figure out yet, but at the moment it’s not bad enough to be a problem. Price is decent as well. Easy enough to setup. I’d recommend if you can get on sale.

  4. CaptainHandsome

Does not work as intended. I was disappointed I couldnt use it stream videos like other devices like this can. I wouldn’t waste your money on it.

  5. Clemen Samuels

Works well for wireless carplay. But the display really sets this apart from the other adapters and is the reason I wanted it in the first place. The display is just the clock unless you download the app. I wanted the album art displayed, so I got the app, set it to display the album are , and, poof, album art…kind of… the decision to make the album art look like an album, with the record player arm and surrounding “record” causes about the outer 1/3 of the album art to be lost. So that’s kind of disappointing.
Also, in my truck (Jeep Gladiator) the USB port on the dash must still get power with the ignition off. Because, even with the ignition off and the door open, which turns off the radio, the display still shows the “connect bluetooth” mode on the screen. Even after several hours. So that’s also kind of disappointing. I’ll try a different port and see if it’s the same.

This OTTOCAST CarPlay clip adapter made going wireless with Apple CarPlay super easy. It is as simple as plugging it in and clipping it to the vent. I especially like the custom screen feature that lets me personalize my dashboard, plus the built-in fresh scent is a surprisingly nice bonus! The adapter is compact, stylish, and keeps my car smelling great while syncing music and maps seamlessly.
